Toyota Malawi customers need not worry about the recalls of Toyota vehicles currently taking, place on the international market, the problem has not affected the local supplier. Lately, there have been widespread reports to the effect that Toyota is recalling some models of its vehicles following problems with acceleration. The problem has been prominent in some European countries, particularly America and China.

Toyota Malawi's national sales manager Richard Makondi, parried away fears that Malawi would be the next victim saying the country gets its units from Japan and South Africa. "Customers don't need to panic with the recalls of Toyota vehicles in Europe, America and China. Malawi is not affected. We get our units from Japan and South Africa where so far there has been no such report of recalls," said Makondi.

He explained that his company was optimistic that the problem would not spill to Malawi and Africa as a whole. "What our customers need to know is that manufacturers of the cars that come to African countries give a special consideration to such vehicles because they're aware of the terrain of roads in African countries. "Currently, we've not been updated in Africa. If such problem happens, we will inform our customers in the soonest time possible," he stated.

In her remarks, Managing Director for Toyota Malawi, Rosemary Mkandawire said all the vehicles the company is stocking are fine. She, however, advised online customers to always consult them when they want to purchase a Toyota vehicle. "I would like to advise every Malawian who intends to buy a Toyota vehicle to do so through us. Some of the models are not for areas in Malawi," explained Mkandawire.
