Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following position; 

Automotive Body and Paint Shop Supervisor (1 position -Blantyre)

Reporting to the Service Manager, the successful candidate shall be responsible for supervision of all body and paint works in the Body Shop.

Required Person:

We are interested in a person who meets the following criteria below;

  • At least 5 years of work experience in vehicle body spray painting in a reputable company
  • Holder of Tevet Level 3 Advanced Certificate or Trade Test Grade 1 Certificate
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Experience in computerized Automotive paint mixing
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage and lead a team of car body and paint technicians.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to ensure their productivity and performance meet or exceed established standards.
  • Maintain strict quality control standards to ensure that all repairs meet safety   and aesthetic criteria.
  • Conduct inspections and ensure that technicians follow proper repair procedures.
  • Plan and prioritize repair jobs, assign tasks to technicians, and monitor progress to ensure that repairs are completed efficiently and on schedule.
  • Manage and monitor the availability of paint, tools, and equipment necessary for repairs.
  • Ensure that supplies are well-stocked and organized for optimal workflow.
  • Interact with customers to understand their repair needs, provide accurate estimates, and address any concerns or questions they may have.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction.
  • Enforce safety (ANZEN) protocols and procedures within the shop to maintain a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, repair techniques, and technology advancements.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to technicians to ensure they are using the latest methods and tools.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of repair orders, materials used, and work performed.
  • Ensure that all documentation is complete and organized for reporting and billing purposes.
  • Address any technical issues or challenges that arise during repairs. Work with the team to find effective solutions and minimize downtime.
  • Identify training needs for technicians and provide or facilitate relevant training programs to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations, environmental standards, and local ordinances related to car body and paint repairs.
  • Maintain open and effective communication with team members, management, and customers.
  • Relay information about job progress, issues, and customer feedback as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and shop efficiency enhancements. Implement changes as necessary to optimize operations.
