Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the following position;

Automotive Spray Painter (1 position -Blantyre)

Reporting to the Body and Paint Workshop Supervisor, the successful candidate shall make sure vehicle surfaces are prepared properly before paint application and that paint colors and primers match vehicles specifications. The candidate shall demonstrate attention to detail, precision, and expertise in automotive painting techniques as well as adherence to strict standards of quality and aesthetics.

Required Person:

We are interested in a person who meets the following criteria below;

  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in vehicle body spray painting
  • Holder of at least Tevet Level 2 Certificate or Trade Test Grade 2 Certificate
  • Fluent in English
  • Experience in Automotive paint mixing

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by sanding, masking, and cleaning to ensure a smooth and clean canvas for paint application.
  • Accurately mix paint colors and primers to match the vehicle's specifications, using the appropriate equipment and formulas.
  • Apply paint coats to vehicles using various techniques, to achieve a uniform and flawless finish.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for imperfections, ensuring that each vehicle meets our high-quality standards. Touch up any blemishes or defects as necessary.
  • Recommend best practices that will improve our overall production quality.
  • Properly maintain and clean painting equipment, such as spray guns, compressors, and paint booths, to ensure their optimal performance.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of paint mixing formulas, materials used, and work performed on each vehicle.
  • Adhere to OEM standards in procedure and compliance to repair procedures ensuring safe production and quality products.
  • Adhere to the OEM flat rates for time consumed carrying out tasks in line with the requirements in the spray painter role.
